Volumes of Ukrainian internet shops grow rapidly

In 2012 volumes’ growth of internet-merchants that receive card payments on their web-pages with the help of the system eCommerceConnect developed by Ukrainian Processing Center (UPC), reached 57% comparing to 2011.

The number of operations, made by cardholders in these electronic shops, increased by 81%. We remind that in 2011 comparing to 2012 this indicator was only 35%. The average sum of purchase reached 260 UAH in 2012.

In 2012 406 new internet shops selling different goods and providing services connected to UPC. The number of shops for today is 2048. Moreover the number of bank-partners providing internet-acquiring services also increased. Today UPC has five bank-partners in Ukraine and two bank-partners in Croatia and Albania.

“In the nearest future internet-acquiring market growth will slow down a little comparing to previous years, while the main indicators of electronic commerce growth will be much higher than in the field of POS-terminals, - Anton Romanchuk, head of the board of UPC says, - Internet sales still have the place to grow in transactions and volumes, because more and more cardholders are getting used to pay in internet. In 2012 every ninth purchase with the help of cards registered in our systems was in internet”.
