Online Merchant and Terminal Registration: UPC Offers Its Clients an Innovative Service
Online Merchant and Terminal Registration: UPC Offers Its Clients an Innovative Service user/common.seoImage

Ukrainian Processing Center (UPC) has introduced a new innovative service to its client banks providing acquiring services: merchant and terminal registration via API, which takes less than one minute. This speed is achieved because the registration does not require file exchanges, and the corresponding requests are processed online.

The service offers banks the following functionalities:

• adding a new merchant;
• adding a new agreement to a merchant;
• adding a new terminal to a merchant with automatic generation or manual input of the Terminal ID.

Additionally, the service provides transparent API-level validation with detailed error messages for quick resolution. In practice, thanks to this modernized service, UPC’s client banks spend up to 30 minutes to equip a merchant with a connected terminal that is immediately ready to accept payments.

Currently, the fast registration service is fully operational for banks conducting POS terminal acquiring. By the end of March this year, e-commerce participants will also be able to connect to this service. Simultaneously, improvements are underway to enable real-time data updates and status changes for merchants and terminals.

The introduction of this service is part of the development of the cloud architecture “UPC API,” launched in 2025. Besides online merchant and terminal registration, “UPC API” is currently used for connecting cards to the 3-D Secure authentication system (Mastercard Identity Check, Visa Secure, and Prostir e-Secure). In 2026, UPC plans to provide access to most of its services through this modern cloud architecture.
