Ukrainian Processing Center (UPC) has completed all the necessary enhancements on its side to enable the launch of the National e-Receipt (eChek) service across both issuing and acquiring operations. As a result, financial institutions serviced by UPC that have opted for this service can now connect their POS terminal networks to the program, allowing customers to receive digital receipts for their purchases directly in their banking applications instead of paper receipts. Digital receipts will also be available in mobile banking apps for online purchases.
For customers, this functionality means a better shopping experience. An eChek cannot be lost, and its information is visible only to the purchaser. At the same time, customers retain the freedom to choose the receipt format that best suits their needs, whether paper or digital. No additional mobile applications are required to use eCheks. Importantly, a digital receipt has the same legal validity as a paper receipt.
For merchants, the service helps reduce the costs associated with printing paper receipts. It also delivers environmental benefits by reducing the consumption of thermal paper, which, unlike ordinary paper, cannot be recycled.
